Keeping a National Sport Centre in great shape
When the Sports Council was looking for a company fit to run their capital and maintenance works programme, they chose Arcus.
This three year term commission covered operations at their National Mountain Centre in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.
The facility is centred on a historic Grade II Listed building and former coaching inn, while the complex provided residential and day facilities to teach all aspects of mountain sports.
The groundwork involved a full survey of the premises, establishing a programmed strategy of repair and refurbishment, and keeping a keen eye on budgetary constraints.
Over the following years we implemented various schemes including: survey, design, production of scheme drawings, tender documents, Construction (Design Management) Regulations, and contract administration services.
Special care and consideration had to be made, as many of these schemes were undertaken with the Centre fully in operation. We made sure that our programmes ensured the health and safety of the staff and visitors at all times.
Over the three year term of this challenging assignment, the value of the various schemes undertaken was in excess of £750,000.
Repair schemes undertaken include:-
- Renewal of water mains.
- Re-roofing schemes.
- External redecorations.
- Repair of the canoe pontoon bank.
- Window replacement schemes.
- Re-pointing works.
Refurbishment schemes undertaken include:-
- Three phases of bedroom refurbishment incorporating en-suite facilities.
- Refurbishment and re-fitting of the commercial kitchens.
- Redesign/remodelling of the main entrance and reception area.
- Refurbishment of the staff cottages.
